Sweater Girl Saturday - Jane Russell

Jane Russell - 21/06/1921  AKA - Ernestine Geraldine Jane Russell

American actress , hollywood icon, founder of the World Adoption International Fund.

Jane made her motion picture debut in The Outlaw, to this day one her most recognisable film roles.

Her figure caused a stir, the film was completed in 1941 but took until 1946 to be passed for general release, and director Howard Hughes even had a specially designed underwire bra made for her to wear during filming. Though Jane would later confirm that the bra was so uncomfortable, she secretly discarded it and wore her own with cups padded with tissue!

Jane also starred in Gentleman Prefer Blondes with Marilyn Monroe, despite reports, the pair were great friends, and an iconic picture of the duo is of their hand and footprints being immortalised at Grauman's Chinese Theatre.
